Rauris - Salzburger region
Spend your summer or winter holiday here in the beautiful Rauris valley and experience the unspoiled natural wonders and culture of this unique alpine region.
In the heart of the charming Rauris valley lies the picturesque village of Rauris at the foot of the mountains. Rauris is a village of 3052 inhabitants in the Salzburg province. The area is a long and exciting history that dates back to 1300 BC and gained importance as a trade hub early on. In 1354, a gold rush broke out in the Rauris valley, giving the area another boost. The wealth of that time is still reflected in the trade houses with ogee gates and bay windows.
Winter in this areas has much to offer: The cozy Rauris ski resort hut is one of the most beautiful resorts in the Alps and offers every skier and snowboarder an exciting sno experience. Numerous winter activities assure that your stay will be anything but boring.
In summer, the area is a perfect starting point for numerous hiking and biking trails in the Hohe Tauern National Park and the many exciting excursion destinations in the region.
Rauris is also popular for its yearly (since 1971!) Literature Days. These are held in late March/early April and last from Wednesday to Sunday. Normally, the Rauris Literature Prize is awarded on the first evening. The second day is partly dedicated to the prize winner, but readings and discussions also begin.
But not only literature is deeply rooted in Rauris. The enchanting natural wonders and warmth of the local residents is far more famous - come and experience it for yourself!
